Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Upon arrival, enjoy a Kigali city tour, including the Genocide Memorial and local markets.

Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and 12 other primate species. Check in at your lodge for lunch, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast, trek from Nyungwe Park Headquarters to search for chimpanzees. Spend one hour observing the chimpanzees and enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3: Canopy Walk Experience

Hike to the 160m-long, 70m-high canopy walkway, enjoying panoramic forest views and spotting butterflies, orchids, and endemic birds.

Guided sessions available at 8am, 10am, 1pm, and 3pm. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Colobus Monkey Trekking

Track Black & White Colobus Monkeys from Uwinka Park Headquarters, spending one hour observing them. Briefing on dos and don’ts is provided before the trek. Other primates, including red-tailed monkeys, mangabeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys, may also be encountered.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Cultural Experience

After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, if time permits, visit Iby’iwacu cultural village for dances and traditional activities.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing. Trek to a habituated gorilla family, spending one hour observing and photographing them. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking

After breakfast, trek to see golden monkeys, either on the slopes of Mount Karisimbi or in the bamboo forest of Mount Sabyinyo. Treks can take 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on the assigned group. Spot other wildlife including birds, monkeys, and plant species along the way.

Day 8: Transfer Back to Kigali – End of Tour

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali, with drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
