Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, your professional driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin your 5-day Gorilla and Wildlife Safari. Enjoy a guided Kigali city tour, including visits to Kimironko Market, the King’s Palace, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

After the city tour, drive northeast to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. Arrive in the evening, check in at the lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park, where you may encounter lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.

After lunch, enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Lake Ihema, famous for its large populations of hippos, crocodiles, and over 500 bird species, including shoebill storks, herons, ibis, jacanas, and gonolek.

Return to the lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Cultural Experience

Arrive in time for lunch and relax before visiting the Iby’iwachu Cultural Village in the evening, where you will experience traditional dances, local customs, and Rwandan heritage.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing by Rwanda Development Board rangers. You will then trek through the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

Once located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing and photographing the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
