Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport for a Kigali city tour, including visits to Kimironko Market, the King’s Palace, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Later, drive northeast to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, relax, enjoy dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park, home to lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, leopards, rhinos, and several antelope species.
After lunch, enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you can see hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of bird species including shoebill storks, herons, jacanas, ibis, and more.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a short exit game drive as you leave Akagera National Park, then embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda.
Nyungwe Forest is one of Africa’s most biodiverse rainforests, home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees and the endemic L’Hoest’s monkey.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Nyungwe Forest National Park headquarters for briefing before beginning your chimpanzee trekking experience.
The trek takes you deep into the rainforest, where you’ll hear bird calls, monkey chatter, and eventually encounter the energetic chimpanzees. Upon locating them, you will spend one hour observing and photographing them in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Kigali – End of Tour
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe Forest and drive back to Kigali, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
